If you were to start your blog over what would you do differently?

So as part of my ‘Much Love, A-xo’ section, I have been asked the questions If you were to start your blog over what would you do differently? The more I was thinking about it, the harder I found the question.

As I sit here I cannot actually decide what I would do differently if I were to start again as I have found that since the start everything I have done to the blog or posted on it, is what I wanted to do.

The only thing I would do differently is to ‘not worry about what you think people want to read but publish what you would want to read.’ It is hard, when you first start blogging you are constantly looking at your stats and page views and trying to ensure that the next day gets more then the previous. Stop thinking about those views, start thinking about your content and ensuring that the content you are publishing is something you would want to read yourself.

I find that blogging is something that can become very challenging, when I first started I was doing it just for fun. I then went through a stage where I though that I had to post 3-4 times a week and make sure my content was perfect and that each piece was getting a good amount of views. But now, I have decided to go back to blogging for fun. This blog was created for fun so why shouldn’t it be that way?

So if there was one thing I could change, make sure your having fun. If the fun goes then why are you still doing this?

That’s the only thing I would do differently, so if you blog what would you do differently if you started over?

I think that’s perfect advice. It’s definitely easy to get caught up on the status, but having fun should be number one.

Those socks look super cozy, btw. 😉

I love this post idea! I think it’s very good question.

I think that if I could go back, I’d post regularly from the beginning, and involve myself in the blogging community from the start. I didn’t even know about the blog world beyond my little posts for a very long time.

I would have set up a separate email address for my blog and I would have put more thought into the name of my blog.

This is so interesting, I probably wouldn’t do much differently.. maybe I would set it up on something other than blogspot and have a self hosted blog. I love yours anyway! x

This is so true. I’ve thought about this before & honestly mine would have been the same. At first I only wanted to publish content that I thought would get page views. I realized, pretty quickly, that I couldn’t do that forever. Not only did it start to not feel genuine but I also was starting to hate what I was writing. And that’s when I changed and started being more real.

This is so true. We get caught up in stats and how many likes we get per post forgetting the reason one stareted blogging in the first place. I relate to this article, I’m going to go back to the drawing board and remind myself why is it exactly that I started blogging and stop focusing on the stats!!!
